Hey there! I’m Fred. My bud “Bomber Bob”, a former USAF pilot who flew air cover over the USA during the Cold War got me here after many years of suggesting me “blog”. There were many others as well, but it was Robert’s dogged perseverance at our breakfasts together that brought me to this point . . . and web designer Pam Ortiz’s patience with this duffer that made it a reality.
I’m a foreigner, traveler, and cultural observer who found a new roots in Yucatan. FRED TALKS From Mexico, is where I share my experiences of the wildly diverse culture and subcultures of Mexico, to reflections on my former birthplace country, the U.S., and the lessons I’ve learned along the way from people and events that shaped me for good or not so good.
Through my blog, you’ll find: Postcards from Mexico – Observations from my daily life, discoveries, and cultural experiences here in this knock your socks off, marvelous country and its people.
A Look at the U.S. from Mexico – Observations and thoughts on my home country, seen from a different lens. Some may find my reflections offensive, unpatriotic, challenging . . . but “Es lo que es” . . . It is what it is . . . but I’m open to new data that may change my mind. It certainly is not the country that this former Civil Rights activist lived the greater part of his life in.
The Road I Travel – Personal and intimate stories, insights, and both the adventures and misadventures that shape my perspective, my core, and sometimes my soul. .
I trust you will find something here that resonates or at least prompt reflections on your own personal stories or challenges you in some way or other. Let’s explore the world together—one story at a time.
Welcome to FRED TALKS from Mexico,
Fred
